My name is Richard Bailey and I have been a publican for sixteen
years, six of those at the Rose and Crown, Great Waltham. I share
the running of the Rose with my fellow licensee Kate Honeywood,
Head Chef James Hollamby and Second Chef Michael Whiting. Previously,
I worked in farming and related corporate entertaining. I remain
passionate about country pursuits and maintaining the rural traditions
of the Essex Countryside.
At
the Rose we pride ourselves on our warm, friendly welcome, Real
Ales and a country menu featuring partridge, pheasant, mutton, rabbit
and venison, when in season.

Restaurant
- The comfortable small private dining area seats 20, plus 16 in the
bar and up to 10 in the snug. The dining area is available for private
functions - birthdays, anniversaries and funeral receptions. Please
telephone to make a booking and, if required, arrange a buffet.
Menu - A country menu is offered, including freshly caught
East Coast fish, local Game and Mature Meat. Our comprehensive 'Specials'
board is updated and changed regularly.
